Air Conditioning Service Auckland

Open

Mon - Sat

Cool summers, warm winters

Auckland summers are getting warmer, and a properly working air conditioning system makes a real difference to your driving comfort - and safety, since a comfortable driver is a more alert driver. If your A/C isn't blowing cold like it used to, it's probably time for a regas or a check for leaks.

Air conditioning systems naturally lose a small amount of refrigerant each year through the hoses and seals, so periodic regassing is normal maintenance. However, if the system has lost a significant amount of gas, there may be a leak that needs addressing first - otherwise you're just throwing money away. We service A/C systems on all makes and models at our Glen Innes workshop, from compact Mazda 2s and Honda Fits through to larger vehicles like Toyota Hiluxes and Mitsubishi Pajeros.

What We Cover

  • Air conditioning system performance inspection
  • Refrigerant recharge (regas) with correct gas type
  • Electronic leak detection across all A/C components
  • Compressor inspection, clutch check, and replacement
  • Condenser and evaporator condition assessment
  • Cabin air filter (pollen filter) replacement
  • Heating system performance check
  • Climate control module diagnostics
  • A/C drive belt inspection and tensioning
  • Expansion valve and receiver drier inspection
  • System pressure testing at idle and under load
  • Anti-bacterial evaporator treatment

How It Works

Book an appointment and let us know the symptoms - not blowing cold, intermittent cooling, strange smells, or unusual noises when the A/C is running. We'll start with a performance test, measuring the vent temperatures and system pressures.

If regassing is needed, we evacuate the old refrigerant, check for leaks using electronic detection equipment, and recharge with the correct type and quantity of gas. If we find a leak or a failed component, we'll explain the issue and quote the repair. Most A/C services are completed within 1 to 2 hours.

Pricing Guide

A/C service pricing depends on the refrigerant type and the work required - newer R1234yf gas is more expensive than the older R134a. If leak detection and repair is needed, costs vary depending on the location and severity of the leak.

We always quote before proceeding with any work so you know exactly what to expect. Contact us to discuss your A/C issue and get a price.

Why Choose Eastern Bays

We handle the full range of A/C work, from a simple regas right through to compressor replacement. Importantly, we always check for leaks first - there's no point regassing a system that's just going to leak it all out again within a few weeks.

Some workshops skip this step because it takes time, but it saves you from paying for repeated regasses that don't fix the problem. We carry the correct refrigerant types for both older R134a systems and the newer R1234yf systems used in many vehicles from 2017 onwards. Our technicians understand the nuances of different climate control systems across European and Japanese vehicles.

While you're here, we can also take care of full service, climate diagnostics and coolant flush - everything under one roof at our Glen Innes workshop.
